Trout Lease Program

The purpose of the Club's TROUT LEASE Program is to be a conservation and education endeavour designed to extend Texas fishable-water resources by maintaining and stocking area fresh-water leases with trout.  Lease members learn in real-time key points about land conservation, and waterway and game fish management. The Trout Lease program runs from December through April of the following year. The program encompasses private access creeks and ponds in the Fredericksburg and Kerrville areas.

Leases are strictly fly fishing rigs, barbless hooks, catch and release only.  The Lease Access Fee varies from year to year and is based on the current cost of lease water's rent, pounds of fish needed to be purchased, and amount of feeding required for the season.

The Trout Lease Program is fully self-supporting through subscriber leasing fees and private donations.  No THCFF club operating funds are used for the THCFF Lease Program.

The Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife considers trout a non-invasive species and stocking trout into waterways is not a threat to area Texas Wildlife.

Our lease management team is continually looking to expand the program by acquiring additional lease waters. If you have waters you want to lease or know of potential lease waters please contact us at

Lease Operations

Lease Manager is Don Anderson.  The leases' first stocking is in December and the fishing days extend through April, depending on seasonal water temperature changes.  A second stocking often occurs in late January or early February.

In September email notifications are sent out to the previous year's lease-holders with remaining slots offered to all remaining club members on a first come first serve basis. People wanting to participate should be sure to read each club email for upcoming lease news. Available lease slots book very quickly.

The total number of lease-slots available each year are determined by the amount of available lease waters and the respective water conditions near the stock dates.

Great care is taken to make sure fishermen have plenty of fish available and fishing slots re not over crowded so lease membership is limited.

Lease holders are expected to assist with stocking and maintaining lease waters as part of learning effective game fish lease management.
